Fall Trip: Spokane to Salt Lake City – Visiting Yellowstone National Park 

  • Day 1 - Drive to Missoula MT and stay at nearby Campground – 166 Miles/2.6 hrs. Spend the day sightseeing, or drive South. 

  • Day 2 – Drive South to W. Yellowstone – 264 Miles/4 hrs. 

Visit Yellowstone National Park and camp inside the park.

  • Day 3 – Continue Driving South through the park, stay at a campground within the park. 

  • Day 4 – Exit Yellowstone and enter into Grand Teton National Park

Spend the day sightseeing, hiking, etc. Optionally Exit the Park.

Camp in one of many campgrounds just North of Jackson

  • Day 5 – Drive to Salt Lake City and Drop off your van, 321 Miles/4.75 hrs.

Trip Summary – 751 Miles/11.5 hours driving over 5 days, average drive time per day is less than 2.5 hours. Optionally extend this trip by adding more days if you choose. This would allow more time at Yellowstone/Grand Tetons!

Conditions permitting, roads will close to cars at 8 a.m. on the following dates:

October 11: The Beartooth Highway (US-212) closes between the Long Lake barricade, near the Top of the World store, and the Montana/Wyoming state line.

November 7: All roads close at 8:00 am except the road between the North Entrance and the Northeast Entrance.
